It has been nothing short of a superb season for Aston Villa which has seen them rise up to second in the Premier League.
The job that Unai Emery has done has been great and has seen him praised for his positive impact on the club’s fortunes.
This has seen wins over Manchester City and Arsenal in the past month which have thrust Villa into the limelight.
There have been many standout performers this campaign. From Ollie Watkins’ goal exploits to Douglas Luiz in midfield, there is plenty to be positive about.

The Villans are fighting for the title and in the hunt for a Champions League spot. There is now plenty of conversation around them.
Jules Breach on surprise Aston Villa success
Where Emery took Villa over from, a Europa Conference League finish would have been a success this season.
Now they are looking down the barrel of a Champions League finish this season. This is if the first half of the season form is maintained.
In a recent article with FourFourTwo, Jules Breach has now been discussing the Villans’ campaign to this point.
Speaking about their pre-season ambitions, Breach has suggested they are flying high. On that, she said: “Back in August, when the sun was still shining and we were going to games full of optimism. Who would have thought that Aston Villa would be spoken of as being in the title race at Christmas?
“Fast-forward to hat and gloves weather, Unai Emery’s team have been this season’s surprise package. Their challenge for the top prize has been even more impressive. Coping with a busy schedule competing in the Europa Conference League.”
It must be said that it has been a season for all Aston Villa fans to remember which has come as a surprise to an extent. They had expectations but Emery and Co have smashed them out of the park.
The wins over top teams have seen a mentality shift where fans come into big games expecting a positive result.
On that, Breach added: “Statement wins against Manchester City and Arsenal in December cemented them as top-four challengers at the least, even if it proves beyond them to ‘do a Leicester’.”
It is safe to say that the Villans have impressed on a wide scale so far this campaign. Long may their great form continue and make fans proud. They have done that, and then some, already.
