Aston Villa defender, Tyrone Mings has released another injury update to fans following his ACL issue vs Newcastle United this season.

It is a moment that started the season in the worst possible sense. Aston Villa fans won’t want to think back as they lost Tyrone Mings and were smashed 5-1.

This hasn’t been looked back on as Unai Emery’s side has gone from strength to strength this season. Currently sitting in fourth place in the Premier League.

With Pau Torres coming in, Villa have found a great man to cover for Mings but that doesn’t make his absence any easier.

Under the Spanish manager, the Englishman had become one of the most important players in the squad. His injury certainly left a gap.

What has Tyrone Mings said?

In recent weeks, Mings has been posting videos about his recovery and this was the second in an interesting insight.

After his first video, many fans had posted their concern over the defender. This as there was a feeling that the videos could be teasing his early retirement. The video was centred around his comeback as opposed to that.

This time around, he made sure that there was no confusion from fans. On his Instagram story, he said: “Video to follow. I’m not retiring.”

This gave fans a sense of security before learning more about their star defender’s progress on the road to recovery.

He released his video on his Twitter with the caption: “It’s not pretty but it’s worth it.” This featured information about his surgery, setbacks and recovery.

It is clear that this recovery is going to be lengthy and can not be rushed. The main issue that seemed to be frustrating Mings was his lack of independence. Given his profession, it is hard to imagine how tough that must be.

One thing that caught fans’ eyes was the lack of muscle and definition in his legs, such has been the lack of movement. If anything was a visual sign of the impact of injury, it is that.

Fans are saddened to see the state that their defender is in. Given how outspoken he typically is, it is clear how much this has affected him. His form before his injury had been terrific and for him now to miss out for so long feels so unfair.

It is clear that he is on the road to recovery and hopefully, he can be back amongst the squad for the next campaign.
