Aston Villa are sat 6th in the Premier League and are preparing for a Champions League clash with RB Leipzig to try and secure a place in the automatic qualification places.
It’s been a rollercoaster season so far for Unai Emery and his team but after 15 games they find themselves just two points off the top 4 in the Premier League and undoubtedly in the running for repeating Champions League qualification next season.
Emery’s Villa team have had a mixed run of results in recent weeks suffering some really poor form that left fans anxious, with Opta predicting Villa to finish 7th in their latest predictions.
Things are seemingly turning around, however, with Villa’s 3-1 win against Brentford followed by a 1-0 win against Southampton.
One of their ever-presents so far this season still doesn’t feel as though he is an “established Premier League player yet” despite being one of only three players to start every game across all competitions for the club.

Morgan Rogers addresses the media
Morgan Rogers has been one of the highlights in Villa’s season so far, his performances have gained national attention. Rogers’ senior England call-up came in November and the winger impressed on international duty.
But when addressing Villa’s media ahead of Villa’s Champions League game against RB Leipzig he said:
“I want to be an established Premier League player which I don’t think I am yet,
“I want to be that consistent player in the national team, I want to play on the biggest stages and be considered as one of the best players in these competitions and I think I can get to there”
When asked why Rogers felt as though he didn’t qualify as “established”, he said:
“I don’t think I’ve played enough games yet to consider myself an established player,
“I need more consistency in my game, I need more games under my belt in terms of taking that next step and cementing my Premier League status
“I think there’s still more to come and more consistency within my performances before I see myself as that yet”
Rogers has had something of a breakthrough season for Villa, he’s an ever-present in the starting 11 and statistically he’s performing well for Emery’s side.
Rogers’ impact for Aston Villa so far
Rogers has been one of the biggest success stories of Unai Emery’s Aston Villa tenure having signed from Middlesborough on deadline day back in January.
The 22-year-old has flourished into one of the most exciting players in the league with his ball carrying ability now starting to be rewarded with goals and assists.
| Premier League 2024/25 | Goals | Assists | Shot Creating Actions Per90 | Progressive Carries Per90 | Progressive Distance Carried Per90 |
| Morgan Rogers | 4 | 2 | 3.39 | 3.31 | 100.9 yards |
Rogers’ impact on this Villa team is clear to see, he is a creative spark in Emery’s system and Villa fans will be excited to see the levels he can reach.
