Aston Villa fans were all in agreement about attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers following his display in the 2-0 loss against Arsenal.
Aston Villa were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal on Saturday evening as two second-half goals from Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey handed Unai Emery’s men their first loss of 2024/25.
It was a cagey match for the most part, as both sides were reluctant to attack but striker Ollie Watkins had arguably the game’s two best chances before the Gunners broke the deadlock.
The Villa talisman found himself unmarked inside the box in the first half however, his effort trickled wide of the post and then he saw his diving header from point-blank range saved by David Raya.
Emery’s men were made to pay for not taking their chances as Trossard came off the bench and turned the game on its head, with the Belgian scoring and then having a hand in the second.
It was a match where few players in claret and blue warranted praise but Morgan Rogers was one of them, as supporters were left impressed by the 22-year-old.

Rogers started in a central attacking role once more this evening and the former Middlesbrough man didn’t disappoint.
The Englishman continuously bullied the Gunners’ midfield with his pace and power, driving through the heart of the visitors, as Declan Rice and Partey were outmuscled physically.
Although Watkins spurned two great chances to score, Rogers looked the most likely to produce the magic required and was Emery’s best player on the pitch.
Reacting to his performance via X, one supporter said: “Really thought Morgan Rogers was class today. Ollie will come good too!”
“The way Morgan Rogers slows down to invite a challenge and then just literally steps right through it is amazing,” another fan said.
“Morgan Rogers really has everything doesn’t he”, a third responded.
“Defeat or not, how good is Morgan Rogers, we don’t need to spend big on a 10 spend little on a backup and spend the money on a right back,” a fifth added.
“Really enjoying Onana, Tielmans and Rogers, all fantastic today. Maatsen again when he came on looked very good. Couple of signing before the window closes and we will have a strong season again,” someone else commented.

Morgan Rogers is a special talent
Rogers is a special talent. How he turns and comfortably beats defenders is a joy to watch.
On a few occasions, the powerful attacking midfielder sent Rice and Partey to the ground with his freakish strength.
When he’s running at full speed, he looks impossible to stop and if he can improve his end product, the sky is Rogers’ limit.
The Villa No.27 was monstrous in and out of possession, completing four of his six attempted dribbles while winning seven of his nine ground duels.
At the start of the season, there were question marks over whether he’d start but now he’s simply undroppable and will only continue to see his value skyrocket the more he plays.
