Aston Villa fans react as Aston Villa Women will play their home games at Villa Park in 2024/25

On Monday, it was announced that Aston Villa Women will play their home games at Villa Park for the 2024/25 campaign.

Before, Villa Women played their home games at the Bescot Stadium, the home of Walsall, where Emery’s side played a pre-season friendly last week.

Villa Park will now play host to all 11 of Villa Women’s home WSL fixtures next term, seeing fans react joyously to the news on X.

One fan reacted to the news by saying, “Wow, unbelievable news”, an opinion that was shared with another supporter who said, “Great news Aston Villa.”

After Arsenal Women sold out the Emirates Stadium last season in the WSL, the growth of Women’s football in England was highlighted, something that has now been reinforced in B6.

“This is really important. You deserve to play at Villa Park. Equality is everything,” one supporter said, with another agreeing, “Good news…always thought Villa teams should be at Villa Park.”

It’s a huge step in the right direction at Villa for the Women’s side, who will look to kick on after their seventh-place finish in the WSL last season.

A fan took to X to celebrate the news by saying, “Steps in the right direction. Idk why this hasn’t happened sooner”, joined by another who said, “As it should be.”

Great news for Aston Villa Women ahead of next season

Villa Women will now experience a significant upgrade in their home venue next season, moving from the 11,300 capacity Bescot Stadium to the 42,640 seater Villa Park.

Developing the Women’s side is integral for Villa, who have taken a leap in the right direction by handing the squad Villa Park as their home for the upcoming season.

There will be hope that Villa Women can attract vast audiences just as other WSL clubs did last term, with the news being a statement from Aston Villa.
