Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez is loving life on the international stage, as he reached another final with Argentina.

It’s been a thrilling summer for Emi Martinez, who is one of four Aston Villa representatives to have reached the semi-final of an international competition.

While Martinez has already learned his fate by reaching the Copa America final, Ian Maatsen, Ollie Watkins and Ezri Konsa will battle it out on Wednesday evening for a spot in the final of Euro 2024.

The Villa goalkeeper has made the headlines throughout the tournament for his heroics for Argentina, who beat Canada 2-0 in the early hours to move closer to retaining their prize.

Argentine media were full of praise for Martinez once more, as he played another crucial part in his country’s journey to the final of Copa America.

After the game, the Villa shot-stopper took to Instagram to celebrate the victory, posting a photo of himself and Tottenham defender Cristian Romero on his story.

Martinez captioned the photo of the duo saying “another final brother”, as Argentina prepare for their fourth shot at silverware in three years.

After winning the 2021 Copa America, Argentina won the CONMEBOL UEFA Cup of Champions against Italy, followed by the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Another final now awaits the World Champions, who will be eager to add another prize to their collection.

Martinez is adored in Argentina and at Villa Park

There aren’t many goalkeepers quite like Martinez, and both Argentina and Aston Villa are aware of that.

The 31-year-old has the ability to shine in every game he plays in, sporting an air of confidence that makes him a tough opponent to face.

While the Villa shot-stopper will be unhappy to miss out on the Olympic action this summer, Villa will be glad to have him back in their ranks for pre-season.

Martinez will return to Bodymoor Heath and hopefully play a significant part in Unai Emery’s pre-season plans, with so much a stake next campaign in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

For now, the Argentine’s full focus will be on retaining the Copa America with his country, in what could be another golden tournament for the Villa star.
