Aston Villa are still absolutely flying in the Premier League.
Their win at Brentford on the weekend once again cemented their position as one of the front-runners in the Premier League title race this season.
This Friday, remarkably, Unai Emery could do the absolute unthinkable, and that’s send Villa top. They’d need to beat Sheffield United, which given their record at Villa Park, is more than likely.
It is an exciting time to be a Villa fan – but are their concerns going forward with the first-team squad?

Alan Shearer shares ‘biggest concern’ with Aston Villa squad
Speaking on his column with the BBC, Alan Shearer outlined what his ‘biggest concern’ is for Unai Emery with the Villa squad.
He said: “My biggest concern with their squad would be their depth in forward positions, particularly as back-up to their leading scorer Ollie Watkins, who has started all 17 of their league games so far.
“Watkins is such an integral part of what they do, and I am not sure how they would cope without him, although it is noticeable that Villa have done a good job of keeping most of their key players fit so far.
“They will also have the chance to bring in some reinforcements when the January transfer window opens, and it is going to be interesting to see what happens then.
“Right now, they are doing everything right and, as well winning themselves, they had a great weekend with two of the other teams in the top four, Liverpool and Manchester City both dropping points.”
Villa have short striking options without Watkins
Shearer does have a point. With the games coming thick and fast for Villa, there is an increasing chance of their star man up top sustaining an injury.
This would be somewhat catastrophic, with a lack of an out-and-out number nine to come in and replace him.
Moussa Diaby could do a job, but his physicality could be a problem leading the line on his own. This now invokes a perfect opportunity for Emery to invest in January.
The fact Emery is at the helm and their favourable league position will excite potential candidates. Let’s see if Villa decide to stick or twist in January.
