Aston Villa boast a quite stunning 13-game Premier League winning run on home soil – last losing in February to Arsenal.

But on Wednesday night, the team is going to face its biggest test yet when Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City come to town.

In what is a little boost to Aston Villa, Manchester City are going to be without Rodri and Jack Grealish.

The duo picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season during their 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

Whilst Gary Neville called it ‘crazy’, his colleague Jamie Carragher highlighted the issues facing the Treble winners because you want your ‘full team’ playing at Villa Park, as he told Sky Sports Premier League (03/12/23 at 5:50 pm).

Villa go into the game after recording a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth – beat the champions and Unai Emery’s side go two points ahead of Manchester City in the table.

“That’s crazy,” said Neville about Grealish’s yellow card and suspension at Villa.

Carragher added: “You know how tough a game Aston Villa is. You want your full team. That’s Rodri and Jack Grealish out.

“Villa’s record at home is outstanding.”

Reaction needed from Aston Villa

Let’s be honest, the performance against Bournemouth was dismal and if it wasn’t for Emi Martinez in between the sticks, then we would have lost.

But that’s away from home and those issues of conceding too many big chances needed to be ironed out.

Despite that, a reaction is needed here in what is a massive week for the club.

Manchester City and Arsenal on home soil. And under the lights. If the team can get a minimum of four points, then it would be massive for the club’s Champions League hopes.
