‘We know…’ Fulham boss Marco Silva makes Villa Park claim after helping Aston Villa out

Aston Villa fans are once again thanking Fulham for helping them out after their 3-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday.

Marco Silva’s side dispatched their London rivals at Craven Cottage, only a week after Tottenham’s win at Aston Villa, which boosted their Champions League hopes.

The impressive nature of Fulham’s victory was spoken about post-match and how they managed to do it after their neighbours’ performance of the season at Villa Park.

Marco Silva acknowledged this and stated ‘we know how difficult it is to play at Villa Park’, as he told beIN SPORTS.

So, for Fulham to, not only claim three points against the same opponent, but produce a deserved victory, dominate them and then become the first team to stop them scoring this season, is pretty impressive.

This is where Aston Villa will be kicking themselves because it’s, once again, pretty clear that Unai Emery should have gone toe-to-toe with Ange Postecoglou’s side last week, rather than put out a defensive-minded system.

Nonetheless, from Fulham’s win against Manchester United this season to this one now, they are certainly helping Aston Villa out in the race for the top four.

This is what Marco Silva had to say about Villa Park, Tottenham’s win there last week and his team’s performance on Saturday.

Fulham beat Tottenham

“We know how difficult it is to play at Villa Park,” said Silva. “They did it brilliant. We have to say.

“Yesterday, in my press conference, they asked me that in the 39 games in a row that they have been scoring. We are the first team to stop them scoring this season.”

Aston Villa travel to West Ham United

It’s all good getting favours from other teams, but you have to finish them off yourself.

Unai Emery and the team are in East London to take on West Ham United on Sunday knowing three points would push us five clear.

Once again, the ball is now in our court. But you just know that this race will twist and turn again.

Villa’s 4-0 win over Ajax in the Europa Conference League was impressive, but it would be even better to beat the Hammers and put out our own statement of intent here.
