Aston Villa head to Kenilworth Road to face Luton Town on Saturday evening as Unai Emery’s side look to make it three Premier League wins on the spin.

The Villans currently sit fourth in the league standings, five points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, although Ange Postecoglou’s side have a game in hand.

Ahead of the trip to Bedfordshire, the Spaniard has shared an update on the latest injury situation.

Emery provided a positive update on the fitness of Pau Torres and Ezri Konsa.

The former was forced off during Villa’s 4-2 win over Nottingham Forest last weekend. Konsa has been sidelined for four matches after spraining his knee against Sheffield United.

Emery revealed in his latest press conference that both would be in the squad on Saturday evening.

“I include them in the squad for tomorrow, but I don’t know if they will start,” he said.

“I will speak to them tomorrow morning and ask how they feel for a very important match. There will be a lot of duels and it is a demanding match.”

Big boost for Aston Villa

Konsa’s return to the matchday squad is a big boost, particularly after Diego Carlos’ training ground injury.

Emery now has four central defensive options after Calum Chambers deputised well during the Villans’ win over Forest.

As for the news on Torres, a massive sigh of relief will have emerged after Emery’s comments. The Spaniard has only just recovered from a long-term injury and was superb during Villa’s 2-1 away win at Fulham two weeks ago.

“He had a small pain, hopefully not injured,” Emery explained after the Forest match.

“We decided not to take a risk with him. He was progressively feeling worse but not feeling really injured.

“Of course, when Calum Chambers stayed here after the transfer window, I told him ‘you are here now to help us practice and in case we need you, you need to be ready to play’.”
