Aston Villa take on Nottingham Forest on Saturday, looking to make it back-to-back wins.

Unai Emery’s side are coming off of an impressive 2-1 away win over Fulham and occupy fourth spot after Tottenham’s defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ange Postecoglou’s men aren’t in action this weekend, which provides Villa an excellent chance to cement their place in the Champions League places.

Looking ahead to the fixture against Forest, it’s fair to say the hosts have their fair share of injuries issues to contend with.

Aston Villa injury situation ahead of Nottingham Forest Premier League clash

The club’s injury problems have been well-documented, and Birmingham Live have brought us up to speed with Villa’s current absentees.

In defence, Diego Carlos is out of the clash against Forest after picking up a hamstring injury in training.

It’s similar for Ezri Konsa, who sprained his knee during the 5-0 win over Sheffield United back in January.

Boubacar Kamara has joined the growing list of players impacted by ACL injuries after going down during Villa’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United.

The Frenchman is expected to return in October.

Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia are also sidelined with similar injuries, although Mings has been pictured in training as he steps up his recovery, which is certainly a boost.

Jhon Duran is the sixth and final confirmed absentee from Emery’s squad ahead of the visit of Forest.

Must-win clash

Like most fixtures towards the season’s end, this feels like a must-win game for Aston Villa.

Forest are struggling near the foot of the Premier League, and, considering Villa’s home form, anything less than a win will be a disappointment.

With Spurs out of action, Villa can heap severe pressure on the north Londoners.

Forest are also struggling with injuries. Two players have already been ruled out of the clash against Villa, and Nuno Espirito Santo is also sweating on Taiwo Awoniyi’s fitness.

Emery will likely line up with a similar side to the one successful at Craven Cottage after Youri Tielemans deputised brilliantly for the injured Kamara.
