Prince William has given his verdict on Aston Villa’s Europa Conference League tie against Lille as he confirmed another future king has become a fan of the Birmingham outfit.
Villa hosted a massive game on Thursday night. Unai Emery’s side were up against French giants Lille with a place in the Europa Conference League semi-finals at stake.
Ollie Watkins quickly put the Villa ahead before John McGinn made it 2-0 in the second half. Lille managed to get one goal back just before the whistle thanks to a header from Bafode Diakite to make it 2-1 on the night.
Two people who were able to witness the special occasion were Prince William who brought along his son, Prince George.
The Duke of Edinburgh has been a lifelong Villa fan and is the President of the FA.
After the game, he gave his verdict on the result and some more good news for Villa fans.
Prince George ‘loving’ Aston Villa

It was a joyous moment on TNT Sports. As Watkins netted the opener, the camera panned to Prince William celebrating the goal with his son, Prince George.
It was certainly one to celebrate as Villa took a step closer to reaching Athens and lifting the Conference League trophy.
At full-time, Prince William gave his verdict on the match while also confirming that Prince George is now a Villa fan.
Neil Moxley reported that he asked the future king after the game: “Your Highness – after the Mostar game we saw you and you said 1-0 was a good result in Europe. How was this?”
“Two-nil would have been better..’
Then, when asked if Prince George is ‘now part of the pride, Prince William responded: “Oh yes, he’s loving it.”

The Royals clearly cannot get enough of Villa and who can blame them?
Villa are finally on their way back to the top after some terrible recent years.
Champions League qualification will surely be secured over the coming weeks and the Conference League trophy would be the cream of the crop.
Such success would finally see the club back in the big time after some dark years. Now that Prince George is on board, he and his dad might see more spectacular moments at Villa Park for years to come.
