Erling Haaland has started the new Premier League season in his typical goal-crazy fashion for Manchester City.

Aston Villa will be glad that they don’t have to face him until December because he has scored back-to-back hat-tricks for his team.

There is no disputing that Haaland is the main guy in the Premier League, but Unai Emery is blessed to have two outstanding goalscorers on his books also – Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran.

Duran scored the winner for Villa against Leicester – the second time this season – and he is showing his power from the bench again.

Everyone knows Watkins is the main man for Villa, but he hasn’t scored in his opening three matches and it has meant the club’s bench strength is needed more than ever before.

Duran only played 462 minutes in the Premier League last season, but he still scored five goals and played a huge part in Villa reaching the Champions League.

That has continued into this campaign because he has two goals in 82 minutes. Many are calling for Duran to start for Villa, as a result.

But what’s even more impressive with the 20-year-old is that he is second on the list to Haaland in a pretty impressive Premier League stat in the history of the competition.

Haaland has scored a goal every 80 minutes, with Duran second scoring a goal every 95.7 minutes, as Sergio Aguero and Thierry Henry also make the list, as posted by Aston Villa Statto on Twitter.

Jhon Duran staying at Aston Villa

Duran could have left Villa in the summer, but everyone associated with the club will be glad that he stayed put.

The points he has won the team after just three games is a prime example of that, but he will become even more important after the international break.

The games are going to kick in thick and fast, but with serious quality, so you should expect Duran to start a fair few matches.

It starts with Everton at home, then the Champions League adventure begins, Wolves visit Villa Park days later, then the club’s League Cup campaign begins before the league and European games continue to get chucked towards Emery’s direction.
