An Ollie Watkins-inspired Villa side was able to hit back as he scored and grabbed an assist for Leon Bailey’s goal. This goal involvement has seen him join an exclusive club.

What has Ollie Watkins achieved?

Following an excellent performance, he has now confirmed his place amongst some elite Villa names. This as he became ‘only the fourth Aston Villa player to provide 6+ goals and 6+ assists in consecutive Premier League seasons for the club,’ as reported by the BBC.

This is to the credit of Watkins who has been superb for many seasons in claret and blue. Under Emery, he has simply exploded into life and become a top, top goalscorer.

Since signing for the Villans in 2020, under Dean Smith, Watkins has been the top scorer in B6 every year. He scored 17 in his first campaign before adding to that with 11 then 16 last season. Now he already has 13 in all competitions which places him in good stead to have his best season at Villa Park yet under Emery’s tutelage.

To be in an exclusive list of names to have such a record for the Villans is a testament to just how good Watkins has been. He scores goals in patches but those patches are top-class, ultimate purple patch player.

Given his form under Emery, his age and the ability he possesses he is going to be one of Villa’s better players for many years. If he can find that consistency in front goal then he will become even more of a danger and an elite talent.

Villa fans will be hopeful that his performances can continue and that those goal involvements can skyrocket this campaign.
