Aston Villa produced one of their worst displays under Unai Emery and suffered a 4-1 defeat at Tottenham on Sunday.
Even after Morgan Rogers opened the scoring for Aston Villa and they were leading at the break, from an offensive aspect, the spark and performance just wasn’t there.
Yes, Tottenham didn’t have much to shout about either, but as soon as Brennan Johnson equalised for Spurs, things changed pretty quickly.
Aston Villa were on the back foot and, despite Son Heung-min and Cristian Romero going off, the away side gradually became worse and worse.
John McGinn might want some Villa perspective after that defeat, but the supporters have every right to be annoyed and frustrated by that performance.
There weren’t many positives to shout about, but Micah Richards did have one player in mind.
Micah Richards amazed by Morgan Rogers despite Aston Villa’s defeat to Tottenham
Villa signed Rogers from Middlesbrough in January and despite coming from the Championship, he is looking and playing like he was made for the elite.
What has stood out with the England hopeful is his ability to carry the ball in a crazy manner and beat anyone with ease.
Richards admitted that ‘we don’t normally talk about a losing team and a player standing out’, but he made an exception for Rogers.
The former defender told The Rest is Football that Rodgers is ‘ridiculous’, as he lauded Villa for bringing him to the club.

“Before you talk about the second half, how good is Morgan Rogers, seriously,” said Richards. “He is ridiculous.
“From a player that has come from Middlesbrough. The way he drives with the ball in midfield. He changes direction so quick. And then he has end product as well.
“We don’t normally talk about the losing team and a player standing out. But I thought in that first half he was really excellent again.”
Rogers’ stats for Villa against Tottenham
Rogers cut a frustrated figure when he was subbed against Tottenham and fans are hoping he will be fine to continue.
It seems as though Emery took him off because he was carrying a knock, but despite that, he wanted to stay on the pitch and you couldn’t blame him.
Rogers was Villa’s highest-rated player by WhoScored at 7.38, with many others producing poor performances and just about getting a rating of five.
