Aston Villa were held to a 2-2 draw away at Ipswich Town on Sunday in a result that would have surprised the Premier League.
Unai Emery‘s side had won four of their five league matches going into the Ipswich match and had the opportunity to go second in the Premier League with a win.
However, Aston Villa had it far from all their own way against a spirited Ipswich side who were keen to make it a real battle at Portman Road.
Goals from Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins saw Villa comeback from a Liam Delap strike to lead 2-1 at half-time, but Delap scored again in the second 45 minutes to ensure the shares were spoiled.

Morgan Rogers scores first Aston Villa goal of the season vs Ipswich
Whilst there are question marks over the performance of Villa’s defence against Ipswich, the attackers were good against their newly-promoted opponents.
Watkins looked back to his best, whilst Rogers continued his fine start to the campaign as he reprised his new second striker role.

Despite his performances earning widespread praise, the 15th-minute strike against Ipswich was Rogers’ first goal of the new season and he took to Instagram to mark the moment.
Rogers posted a picture of him celebrating his goal with the caption: “Off the mark”.
Cole Palmer and Premier League stars react to Rogers’ Aston Villa goal

Rogers shares his ‘cold’ goal celebration with Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and it was a good weekend for both players as Palmer scored an incredible four goals against Brighton on Saturday.
The pair are good friends and Palmer reacted to Rogers’ Instagram post by commenting: “Told ya”.

Teammate Lucas Digne was also quick to react, commenting “mon gars”, which means ‘my boy’, and Lamare Bogarde reacted with the cold emoji in reference to the celebration.

Oddly enough, Delap – who scored twice against Villa – commented “my boy” with the two knowing each other from Manchester City and England under-21 duty.

Now that Rogers is off the mark, he will hope this goal will be the first of many in what looks set to be a really strong season for the 22-year-old.
