That winning feeling is coming back for Aston Villa.

There is still a long way to go, but Unai Emery has seen off a positive week and progression up the Premier League table.

On Wednesday night, Villa put three goals past Thomas Frank’s Brentford to end their winless eight-game run in all competitions.

And on Saturday afternoon, in a scrappier and uglier game of football, Villa beat Southampton 1-0 to climb into sixth place in the Premier League table.

It wasn’t so long ago that it was doom and gloom because Aston Villa were sitting in the bottom half and sliding away at the wrong time.

One of the key reasons behind the team’s success is the return of Boubacar Kamara and the defensive midfielder getting regular starts under his belt once again.

Boubacar Kamara reacts to Aston Villa’s win over Southampton

Kamara suffered a season-ending injury in February and it played a part in Villa collapsing from a defensive aspect during the final few months of the campaign.

It also meant that Emery was missing a key player for the opening few months of this season, with the player only starting back-to-back Premier League matches for the first time this week because he was building up his fitness and also suffered a minor knock before the previous international break.

But now that his engine is warm again, surprise, surprise, Aston Villa pick up back-to-back wins and Kamara’s message on Instagram was clear.

Matty Cash and Lucas Digne praise Kamara after win over Southampton

Emery was able to rotate both Matty Cash and Lucas Digne for the Southampton game – with an eye on RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

Whilst Cash was an unused substitute, Digne played around half an hour and the duo reacted to Kamara’s performance in the comments section of his IG, alongside several Villa fans.

Cash labelled his teammate as a ‘beast’, with Digne sending fire emojis and Lamare Bogarde calling him ‘different’.

One Villa fan said Kamara is a ‘genius’, whilst another stated that he was ‘the best player on the pitch once again’.
