Aston Villa lost their fourth consecutive game in all competition as Liverpool beat Unai Emery’s side 2-0.
The Claret and Blue side were unable to recover from their Champions League defeat in the week as goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah were enough to secure three points for the hosts.
Villa will no doubt fell hard done by on the night with the visitors having plenty of chances to get back into the game before Liverpool’s second.
However, Emery’s team simply didn’t do enough to get the result.
One player who particularly struggled was Jaden Philogene whose cameo off the bench was less than impressive.
Jaden Philogene struggled once again in Liverpool defeat

With the game hanging in the balance, Emery brought on young winger Philogene just after the hour mark in the hope that he could find the goal to bring Villa level once more.
However, the 22-year-old was unable to make any meaningful plays on the game and went missing for big period.
According to WhoScored, Philogene only touched the ball eight times. On top of this, he managed one shot, a 75% pass completion rate and he was dispossessed once without making a single dribble.
As a result, he was awarded with a 5.8 rating, the joint lowest on the field.

Unai Emery needs to nurse Jaden Philogene back to form

So far, Philogene has struggled to showcase his talents in the Premier League. He is yet to get a goal or an assist, with his only meaningful action being his red card in the 3-1 victory over Fulham.
However, the winger has shown that he has talent. In Villa’s 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich, the 22-year-old was magnificent against one of the best sides in the world.
If Villa are to get the best out of Philogene, Emery needs to help the youngster find his feet once again.
This could come in a loan spell to a team lower in the Premier League where he would be guaranteed more game time.
