Amadou Onana secured a big-money transfer from Everton to Aston Villa in the summer and he hasn’t taken too long to make his mark for his new side.

Unai Emery’s men, after a pretty poor pre-season, beat European hopefuls West Ham United 2-1 at the London Stadium to start their Premier League campaign with a win.

Onana scored on his Villa debut, only hours after his former side Everton endured a miserable afternoon by losing 3-0 at home to Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 22-year-old, who netted four times during his days at Goodison Park, powered home from a corner to get his career in Claret & Blue off with a bang.

Onana was provided with a rating of 7.5 for his Villa debut, with the Belgium international clearly enjoying himself post-match.

From the moment he joined Villa, you could see the confidence flowing in the player and how he wants to become one of the top midfielders in Europe.

And one thing is for sure, the Villa fans already love him and they proved that after the full-time whistle at the London Stadium.

Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool in the summer and he was known for doing fist pumps towards his own crowd, running back and doing it again.

Certain sections of Everton, Villa and Liverpool fans on Twitter picked up on Onana doing the same after his debut.

All of this will just infuriate and annoy Everton fans even further because their weekend is going from bad to worse.

Aston Villa against Arsenal

Already, so early on in the season, Villa are going to face the second-best team in the Premier League when Arsenal visit town.

It’s Villa’s first home game of the campaign and fans are going to be well behind the players and pushing for those three points.

Aston Villa beat Arsenal home and away last season, so that will be fresh in the mind of Mikel Arteta, who also opened their Premier League campaign with a win.

Three points here for Emery and his team would be a serious statement of intent. Villa are in the Champions League and this season is going to be tougher than ever.
