After a few weeks of indifferent results and performances, Aston Villa proved they are back on the charge by beating Nottingham Forest 4-2 on Saturday.

It was an attacking display of high, high quality, as Unai Emery watched his team score three goals inside 40 minutes.

Alan Shearer was keen to highlight two players for praise – Douglas Luiz and Leon Bailey – and he named the Aston Villa duo in his Team of the Week.

The former striker stated that Douglas Luiz is having a ‘brilliant season’ after he scored league goals number eight and nine at the weekend.

Meanwhile, the man on Aston Villa’s right is making every opposition defender dizzy because Alan Shearer felt Forest just ‘couldn’t handle him’, as he wrote on the Premier League’s website.

It was Leon Bailey who started the party because it was his outrageous assist that allowed Ollie Watkins to tap home after just four minutes, before the 26-year-old scored his side’s fourth to ease the nerves around Villa Park.

In truth, you could have had many other Aston Villa players in the TOTW, including Ollie Watkins and John McGinn, but this time it was Douglas Luiz and Leon Bailey getting their flowers.

Leon Bailey and Douglas Luiz dazzle for Aston Villa

“Two well-taken goals, took his tally to nine in a brilliant season,” said Shearer about Luiz.

“Forest simply couldn’t handle him. Created the opener and scored the final goal,” the former striker concluded about Bailey.

Tricky test against Luton Town

Villa will be back on the road on Saturday night when it’s a very tricky clash against relegation-threatened Luton Town.

On paper, Rob Edwards’ side might be down the bottom of the table, but on home soil this season, they have been a different animal and it takes a lot out of you to beat them.

It wouldn’t be a surprise, even if we do win, it’s by the odd goal because that’s exactly how Luton’s games at Kenilworth Road have gone.

But before the big week, where we face Ajax twice and Tottenham in between, this is the type of game we simply have to win.
