Jack Grealish honestly stated on Twitter that Aston Villa were not at their best during their 3-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.

The Midlands outfit, who were coming up against their former manager Steve Bruce, netted two stoppage-time goals to seal a valuable three points in the race for promotion.

After the match, playmaker Grealish, who played the full match, shared this message on his personal Twitter account as Villa made it six-wins-in-a-row.

Things could have been a lot different for Villa had certain aspects of the game gone against them, but they ground out the result.

Gary Hooper opened the scoring for the home team after seven minutes, but midfielder John McGinn equalised before the break with a well-placed half volley.

In the second half, Bruce’s side were the better team and they should have taken the lead before the hour mark when Steven Fletcher saw his penalty kick saved by Jed Steer.

Thereafter, Wednesday continued to press and look for a winner, but substitute Albert Adomah ended Bruce’s unbeaten run to send the away fans into party mode. Moments later Tammy Abraham made sure of the points by adding a third.

All in all, given Villa’s current standing, the three points are all that matter because performances during this stage of the season are irrelevant.
