A plethora of new faces, or in some cases familiar faces, have been walking through Aston Villa’s doors since the summer transfer window opened.
From the popular Tyrone Mings to the unknown attacking powerhouse Wesley Moraes. Dean Smith has signed a total of six players, thus far, but no-one is yet to fill the defensive midfield role.
Following Villa’s promotion to the Premier League, the club opted to part ways with the experienced duo of Glenn Whelan and Mile Jedinak. That has left Villa short in the number six position.

Two players that could fill that role brilliantly for the club are Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden and Tottenham Hotspur’s Victor Wanyama.
Both are seemingly available this summer and they would do a competent job for Villa if they decided to pursue their signature.

The London Evening Standard reported in April that Wanyama is among a host of Spurs players that is free to depart White Hart Lane this summer.
Added with that, the Chronicle claimed that Newcastle will demand a fee in the excess of £15 million for Hayden, who is keen on leaving the club.
These are players of high, high quality, and in Wanyama’s case, a player that should be playing in Europe, but given their availability and Villa’s need for some protection in front of their defence, they shouldn’t hesitate in turning their attention to either player.
