Aston Villa defender Ahmed Elmohamady is attracting interest from Newcastle United, according to a report.
The Sun have claimed that former Villa manager Steve Bruce wants to re-unite the 31-year-old right-back and he is ready to fight Newcastle’s hierarchy in a bid to bring him to the club.
Elmohamady worked with Bruce during their time at Hull City, as the duo won promotion to the Premier League on two occasions.
Therefore, during the summer of 2017, when he was Villa manager, it wasn’t a surprise to see Bruce bring the experienced man to the Midlands.

The Egypt international produced solid performances under Bruce, but there were times when he was criticised by supporters.
However, during the back end of the last campaign, Elmohamady played a key part in Dean Smith guiding Villa back to the Premier League – he provided an assist in the Championship play-off final.
Newcastle are in need of some added quality to their squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign, with the club in a mess both on and off the field.
It remains to be seen how Elmohamady would be welcomed by the Newcastle supporters if he were to make the switch to the North East.
Plus, Villa may not be keen on parting ways with the Egyptian because of how well he has performed for them in recent months.
