Aston Villa have been drawn against their local rivals Wolves in the fourth round of the EFL Cup, and fans are happy with that outcome.

Dean Smith’s side beat fellow Premier League side Brighton 3-1 to book their place in the next round, whilst Wolves needed penalties to see off Championship side Reading.

In those games, both teams played a number of their back-up players, with a sprinkle of some first-team stars, but it remains to be seen if that will be the case when they meet next month.

Both Villa and Wolves are yet to meet in the Premier League this season, and their first meeting since their Championship clash two seasons ago will be in the EFL Cup.

Considering both teams played weakened teams during their early cup games, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the big-name players return for this fixture.

A place in the quarter-final is up for grabs, plus you don’t want to be in a situation where you are getting knocked out of a cup competition by your local rivals.

Both Villa and Wolves have started the Premier League campaign in a poor fashion. A lot of football is still to be played before they meet next month, so the form they pick up in these coming month or so will be crucial as to what happens in that game.
