Aston Villa have decided to extend the contract of their youth product Callum O’Hare, according to a report.

The Birmingham Mail claims that the 20-year-old has been tied down by the club beyond next season after penning a two-year deal at the start of the previous campaign.

The highly-rated playmaker is currently on-loan at League Two side Carlisle United and he is thriving under the stewardship of the attack-minded Steven Pressley.

O’Hare has been part of the first-team set-up at Villa and has made nine appearances for his boyhood club [transfermarkt] but he’s not been able to establish himself as a regular.

There is no doubt that he has a future at Villa Park and it won’t be a surprise to see supporters comparing him with star man Jack Grealish.

Both individuals are simillar type of players and have come through the same system together. O’Hare has a long way to go to match the rise of Grealish, but he can produce the goods if he continues on his current path.

At this moment in time, he is on-loan at Carlisle where he has made 10 appearances for the playoff-chasing side, scoring one goal and supplying his teammates with two assists [transfermarkt].

If Villa don’t earn promotion to the Premier League this season then it won’t be a surprise to see O’Hare be a part of Dean Smith’s plans for the following campaign.
