Anwar El Ghazi and John McGinn expressed their delight on Twitter after Aston Villa earned promotion to the Premier League on Monday afternoon.
Dean Smith’s side beat Derby County 2-1 at Wembley in the Championship play-off final, with El Ghazi opening the scoring in the first half and McGinn doubling his side’s lead after the restart.
The Rams did pull a goal back through Martin Waghorn later in the second half, but that goal was not enough as Villa made a return to England’s top-flight.
After the game, the goalscorers on the day, El Ghazi and McGinn posted these messages to Villa supporters on their personal Twitter account:

It was a game to remember for those in Claret and Blue because it ended Villa’s three-year absence from the promised land.
They will now be planning for life in the Premier League as the coaching staff and those in the boardroom have an important summer coming up.
Villa’s transfer plans will be crucial in them maintaining their status in England’s top-flight as will who stay and the club and who will depart.
There is no doubt that McGinn will play a crucial part for Villa next season and those fans will also want to see El Ghazi, who is on a season-long loan from French side Lille, sign a permanent contract at the club.
