It has been quite an incredible season for Unai Emery and his Aston Villa players.
Eight Premier League games remain, including European commitments, with the hope that the team secures fourth and wins the Europa Conference League.
From back to front, many Aston Villa players have played a huge part in the team performing so well, especially given the injuries Emery has had to deal with.
When the final ball is kicked, there will be players in Claret & Blue who could make an argument to be in contention for the PFA’s Player of the Year.
Ollie Watkins is the one constantly making the headlines because of his goal involvements this season – he has 16 Premier League goals and 10 assists.
But Rio Ferdinand, when discussing who could win the PFA’s Player of the Year, agreed that Ezri Konsa and Douglas Luiz deserve a shout, as he told FIVE.
The names of Phil Foden, Mohamed Salah and Rodri, to name a few, were mentioned.
And when presenter and Arsenal fan Joel Beya discussed Konsa, after his England debut, Ferdinand agreed, along with Luiz.
Douglas Luiz and Ezri Konsa Player of the Year?
“I don’t think there is a real, real outstanding candidate,” said Ferdinand.
“I have been a fan of Konsa this season, I have been saying all season,” said presenter and Arsenal fan, Joel Beya.
Ferdinand agreed and added: “Konsa has been good. Douglas Luiz has been good.”
Beya added: “He has been tops.”
Ferdinand then stated: “Whoever finishes the season really strong now, as an individual, out of those names we mentioned (Rodri, Salah, Pascal Gross, Luiz, Konsa and Foden), will nick it.”

Who is Aston Villa’s Player of the Year?
It will be interesting to see who the Villa fans vote for their own Player of the Year at the end of the campaign.
Last season, Luiz took that honour, alongside being named the Players’ Player of the Year.
You imagine he will be in for a shout again, alongside Watkins, who is probably the favourite at this moment in time.
The England star is having his best season in Villa colours, with the likes of John McGinn, Leon Bailey, Pau Torres and Lucas Digne also worth a mention.
