Aston Villa have come a long way since the club saw Jack Grealish depart back in 2021 however, Unai Emery has now been told that two of his players are comparable to the Bodymoor Heath superstar.
It was deemed an inevitable scenario when Jack Grealish bid farewell to Aston Villa in 2021, joining Manchester City for a fee of £100m.
Despite the sadness of seeing the Bodymoor Heath graduate depart, the Villans were handed a hefty profit for his sale, as the then 25-year-old began his path to bigger things.
It would be fair to say that the former captain outgrew Villa at the time of his exit, with the squad switching between being of bottom to middle-of-the-table quality.
Things are considerably different now, with Villa Park no longer considering a stepping stone to bigger things, as Unai Emery continues to direct the Midlands club towards stardom, with Champions League football and European silverware still a possibility this season.
Villa will no longer feel as though they miss Grealish, who is used more sporadically for Manchester City this season, particularly after being told that they have two players who mirror the Englishman.
Aston Villa told two players are similar to Jack Grealish
Villa will forever be fond of and grateful to Grealish, who was an exemplary servant to his boyhood club over the years.
That being said, the squad has moved to a position of no longer yearning for his quality, with journalist John Townley touching on such a narrative on the Claret and Blue podcast.
When asked his opinion on January arrival Morgan Rogers’ similarities to Grealish, Townley admitted that the former Middlesbrough ace isn’t the only Villan likeable to the £100m man.

“I think I’d probably compare him [Rogers] to that ilk of player, I think probably more so Ramsey because Grealish will run up the pitch and make an assist, whereas Rogers is so raw at the moment.”
“He’s got everything there, I’m really excited about him but of course, he’s raw, he’s got plenty of learning to do but he’s actually developed a lot even in the last few weeks to be fair.”
“Definitely worth drawing comparisons to how he was moving with the ball, Grealish’s balance allowed him to glide past players, Rogers and Ramsey of course they have that in their skillset but they’re more powerful.”
“Especially Rogers, he almost looks like a target man, he’s a very powerful runner, he’ll take some stopping in a couple of years for sure.”

Comparisons to Jack Grealish are fair for Morgan Rogers and Jacob Ramsey
While Jacob Ramsey is the more established and polished player to be likened to Grealish, there is a strong claim for Rogers to also be compared to the treble winner.
Against Wolves, the 21-year-old was particularly good when moving with the ball, encouraging his side to partake in positive passages of play in the final third.
Lauded as an “absolute beast” by BBC Sport pundit Paul Robinson during the fixture against the Old Gold, Rogers gave Villa a glimpse of what he can do, paying homage to Grealish with some of his driving bursts forward.
As per Sofascore, the England U21 marvel completed 100% of his attempted dribbles, recording five successful runs at the opposition, causing havoc for Wolves when he was on the ball.
It was Grealish’s trademark move to be unplayable in possession, hence Townley being quizzed on the likeliness of the two players.
Rogers will take a few years to be able to be considered in the calibre of the Bodymoor Heath sensation however, the early signs are encouraging for a player that has played all of his senior football below the top-flight.
