Aston Villa are blessed to have one of the best managers in the world at their disposal.

The job Unai Emery is doing at Bodymoor Heath is quite incredible and it can get even better in the coming months if objectives are met.

Aston Villa plays high-risk football, the offside trap is regularly used and it leaves supporters on the edge every time, but you would pay your money to watch it every time.

You wonder if some of the current players in B6 are taking notes or learning from what Unai Emery is teaching them, in regards to becoming a coach in years to come.

Which player at the club will most likely be a manager when they hang up their boots? Sometimes these players stick out, but on other occasions, it’s not so obvious.

Ollie Watkins was asked to name which one of his teammates he feels will become a manager when they retire and he put forward the name of Pau Torres.

The England striker stated that the ball-playing centre-back has a ‘chilled’ style to him and he can see him following the path of Xabi Alonso, as he told Stadium Astro.

The former Premier League midfielder is doing wonders at Bayer Leverkusen, still the only unbeaten team in Europe, and is on task to end Bayern Munich’s decade-long dominance at the top of German football.

Nonetheless, Watkins shared why he picked Torres as the one most likely, from the Villa squad, to become a manager.

Pau Torres…future manager?

“I could imagine him being like Xabi Alonso,” said Watkins. “Just chilled. He would be laid back.

“But I don’t think we have many in the team (who might be managers).”

Spanish managers

From Pep Guardiola to Emery. There seems to be a strong crop of Spanish coaches coming through and doing well at the highest level.

If Liverpool don’t win the Premier League title, then it’s going to be out of Basque-born Arteta or Catalonia’s very own, Guardiola.

Three of the top four teams in the Premier League could be from Spain, that’s if Villa get that all-important fourth spot. Not forgetting the strong work of Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth.

Then there is the magic that Alonso is conjuring up in Leverkusen, Luis Enrique is at the all-drama club PSG, whilst Míchel is doing wonders at underdogs Girona in La Liga.

There is something these Spanish coaches are bringing to the table and it bodes well for future generations.
