Chris Sutton has predicted which position Aston Villa will finish in the 2023/24 Premier League season.
Unai Emery’s side fell out of the top four last weekend after Tottenham Hotspur beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 on Sunday.
Ange Postecoglou’s side also hold an all-important game in hand, which could make a significant difference come the end of the season.
Villa can still land a spot in next season’s Champions League, although they’re heavily reliant on the success of English clubs in Europe this season.

Where does Chris Sutton think Aston Villa will finish this season?

Talking on the latest edition of the Daily Mail’s ‘It’s All Kicking Off Podcast’, Sutton has revealed whether he thinks Villa can finish in the top four.
“They’re superbly organised. This season, they’ve most definitely over-achieved. In that respect, Villa fans will want to see the next step.
“They’re going to finish in the top five this season, which would represent an excellent season and something most of us thought wasn’t possible at the start.”
How does Chris Sutton see Aston Villa getting on against Arsenal this weekend?
Emery’s side face a daunting trip to Arsenal on Sunday. The Gunners are pushing for the league title and will arguably be Villa’s toughest test of the season.
However, Villa have already enjoyed success against Mikel Arteta’s men this season. John McGinn’s seventh-minute goal saw Villa triumph in December, and a repeat performance will be required at The Emirates.
However, In his BBC Sport column, Sutton has backed Arsenal to get the job done. He says ‘too much is at stake’ for the hosts.
“Villa have definitely got a goal in them, but I don’t think they are going to outscore Arsenal,” he explained.
“There is too much at stake now for Mikel Arteta’s side, and the Premier League leaders have too much to lose.”
