Aston Villa’s summer signing Wesley Moraes has played down injury concerns on Instagram by urging fans to make their own ‘conclusions’ at Villa Park.
The 22-year-old missed Villa’s pre-season win against Charlton on Saturday, with supporters sharing concerns about their club-record signing not featuring.
But it seems as though there is nothing to fear in Moraes’ case, as he made this comment on his personal Instagram account.
Judging by pre-season, Moraes will be expected to start Villa’s first game of the Premier League season, with Dean Smith’s side taking on Tottenham.
Other players that will challenge Moraes for that first-team spot this season are 2017 January signing Scott Hogan, youngster Keinan Davis and the versatile Jonathan Kodjia.
But Moraes has an advantage over those players. Striker Hogan has struggled during his time at Villa and was sent out on loan during the second half of their promotion campaign.
Davis is seen as a younger player still making his way into the game and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Smith opts to send him out on loan.
And Kodjia was utilised on the flanks by Smith last season and he returned late from pre-season, so he is still playing catch up in terms of fitness and sharpness.
