Aston Villa could break a record at Villa Park that has stood for 31 years by the end of the season, with seven games remaining to rewrite history.
Unai Emery is adored in the Midlands thanks to his impact at Aston Villa since taking charge back in October 2022.
The Spaniard has turned the squad that sat in 15th at the time of his arrival to a side challenging for Champions League football, with plenty still to play for this season.
Currently sitting in 4th, the Villans are just 13 games away from securing a spot in the top four ahead of Spurs and Manchester United, significantly pushing on from their 7th place finish last term.
Aside from having the Champions League in their sights, Villa could also break a record at Villa Park that has stood for 31 years.
The Villa Park record that Aston Villa could break this season
In the 1992/93 campaign, Ron Atkinson’s side not only finished second in the first season of the top-flight’s rebranding to the Premier League but also set a record that has stood since.
Atkinson’s squad netted 36 goals at Villa Park in the 1992/93 Premier League calendar, recording the highest number of goals scored at the club’s home ground in the Premier League era.
So far, Emery’s side have scored 31 goals at home this term, meaning just six goals from the remaining seven fixtures left to play at Villa Park are needed to break the long-standing club record.

What Aston Villa need to do to break the record
The club’s final seven home games of the season come against Nottingham Forest, Wolves, Brentford, Spurs, Bournemouth, Chelsea and Liverpool, teams that Villa netted a total of eight goals against in the reverse fixtures.
On paper, it looks likely that Emery’s side will break the record, particularly when considering that Ollie Watkins is eyeing records for himself to provide additional inspiration to put the ball in the net.
The Englishman requires seven goals from Villa’s remaining 13 games to be the first-ever player to hit the 20-goal milestone in a Premier League season at the club, reinforcing just how far the club have come under Emery.
The Spaniard has certainly got the goals flowing at Villa Park, with the Villans already on 52 goals, eclipsing their tally from the entirety of last season.
In fact, the squad are on course to record Villa’s highest goals total in the Premier League since their promotion in 2019, highlighting just how far the squad has developed from the manager’s positive style of play.
