Aston Villa are edging closer to securing their ninth signing of the summer after Mahmoud Trezeguet agreed personal terms with the club, according to a report.
KingFut have claimed that Egypt winger Trezeguet is close to make a summer switch from Turkish side Kasimpasa to newly-promoted Villa.
It is said that Villa have already agreed a fee for the 24-year-old’s signature, with the Midlands outfit paying in the region of £8 million for his services.
Trezeguet was recently on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Egypt where he was playing alongside Villa’s Ahmed Elmohamady.
Now it seems as though he could be playing with him at club level and in the Premier League where Villa will be planning on making their mark.
Smith’s side won promotion via the Championship play-offs, with Elmohamady providing an assist during that 2-1 win over Derby County in May.
The right-hand side was a bit of a problem area for Villa last term, as Trezeguet will be tasked with bringing quality to that area.
Villa have already secured the services of Jota this summer, and the left-footed playmaker has been one of the shining lights during pre-season.
Nonetheless, if Trezeguet does put pen-to-paper on a new deal then he’ll be Villa’s ninth signing of the summer, and their fourth attack-minded purchase.
